RIKON designed, manufactured and supplied an RPS-720 Double Jib Level Luffing crane, complete with a 150-tonne hopper, for the Port of Brčko (Luka Brčko), the only international river port in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the Sava River.

Delivered as part of an EBRD- and EU-supported modernisation of the port, the crane replaced equipment more than 50 years old and substantially increased the port’s cargo-handling capacity.

With a 27-tonne lifting capacity and a 33-metre outreach, it handles bulk and general cargo, strengthening a strategic gateway that links the Sava waterway to the Trans-European transport network.

The Challenge

The Port of Brčko, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s only international river port, was operating with cranes more than 50 years old and outdated infrastructure that limited its capacity. As part of an EBRD- and EU-funded modernisation, the port needed a modern, high-capacity crane able to handle bulk and general cargo efficiently and to unlock the potential of its strategic position on the Sava River.

The Solution

RIKON delivered an RPS-720 Double Jib Level Luffing crane with a 27-tonne lifting capacity, a 33-metre outreach and an A8 crane duty classification, supplied together with a 150-tonne hopper for efficient bulk handling. The new crane replaced decades-old equipment and significantly increased the port’s throughput, entering operation as part of the port’s wider modernisation.

Project Significance

The crane was the centrepiece of the first major modernisation of the Port of Brčko in more than 50 years, an EBRD- and EU-supported flagship investment in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s river transport. For RIKON, the project demonstrated its ability to deliver heavy port equipment within an international development-financing framework, strengthening a strategic gateway between the Sava waterway and the Trans-European transport network.
