The Challenge

The Grand Port of Marseille, France’s leading port and a major Mediterranean hub, required a heavy-duty level luffing crane for its ship repair area, able to service large vessels, including cruise ships, with the reach and precision needed for repair and painting work in a demanding maritime environment.

The Solution

RIKON delivered an RSC-630 Double Jib Level Luffing mounting crane with a 35-tonne lifting capacity, a 48-metre outreach and an A6 crane duty classification, equipped with a smart anti-collision system for safe operation in a busy repair area. RIKON handled the full scope, from manufacturing and supply to assembly and commissioning, delivering a crane ready for ship repair and painting operations.

Project Significance

The project marked RIKON’s entry into the French market and its first major contract in the country, supplying a level luffing crane for cruise-vessel repair at one of the Mediterranean’s most important ports. It established a foothold the company has since built on with further orders in France, including cranes for the Port of Brest.
