Location

Goleniów, Poland 🇵🇱

RIKON designed, manufactured and supplied a special-purpose RTG-65 Rubber Tyred Gantry crane for the LM Wind Power factory in Goleniów, a leading manufacturer of wind turbine blades and part of the GE group. With a lifting capacity of 105 tonnes under the ropes and 65 tonnes under its special lifting beam, and a 15.1-metre span, the crane is used to move wind turbine blades across the factory site. The project demonstrated RIKON’s ability to engineer non-standard lifting solutions for specific customer requirements beyond the port sector.

The Challenge

The LM Wind Power factory in Goleniów, producing large wind turbine blades, needed a gantry crane able to move long, heavy blades safely across the site, with a high lifting capacity and dedicated handling equipment suited to this type of load.

The Solution

RIKON delivered a special-purpose RTG-65 Rubber Tyred Gantry crane with a lifting capacity of 105 tonnes under the ropes and 65 tonnes under a special lifting beam, and a 15.1-metre span, for handling wind turbine blades. The crane was engineered for the customer’s specific load dimensions and weight rather than adapted from a standard model.

Project Significance

The project showed RIKON working beyond port equipment, engineering a special-purpose crane for an industrial manufacturer. The delivery for the LM Wind Power site, part of the GE group, confirmed the company’s ability to handle non-standard engineering orders in the energy sector.
