The successful launch of RIKON’s in-house remote control system marks a significant milestone, placing the company among a select group of global manufacturers capable of not only producing heavy-lift equipment but also designing and implementing comprehensive high-tech IT solutions for it.
A Technological Leap for Terminal Infrastructure
The integration of RROS represents a qualitative step forward for the terminal’s operational capabilities. Each of the two RMG cranes is now connected to a dedicated remote workstation, fundamentally transforming the approach to heavy equipment operation:
- Enhanced precision and control: Operators manage multi-tonne machinery with maximum accuracy from ergonomic control consoles located in a comfortable office environment.
- Improved safety and working conditions: Personnel are fully protected from adverse weather conditions and the occupational hazards associated with on-site crane operation.
A Strategic Venue for Innovation
The deployment took place at the Valencia-Font de Sant Lluís terminal, operated by ADIF — Spain’s national railway infrastructure authority — underscoring the growing demand for advanced automation solutions within the country’s state-managed logistics network.
Commitment to Automation
The successful RROS launch in Valencia is part of RIKON’s broader global strategy to automate logistics processes. The company is currently advancing a parallel project at another ADIF facility — the Madrid-Vicálvaro terminal — where RIKON is supplying three fully automated 40-tonne gantry cranes (A-RMG). This contract further reinforces RIKON’s standing as a leading provider of cutting-edge technological solutions for multimodal freight transportation.
